CHI Infra Treatment with Cationic Hydration Interlink is a superior moisturizing and protecting treatment. Hair will be left with the proper balance of moisture for silky manageable hair with incredible shine every time.

Directions: After shampooing the hair, apply a generous amount of CHI Infra Treatment and work into the hair evenly. Leave on hair for 2 to 5 minutes and rinse thoroughly.

MY TAKE: I have been using this product for a while and I am very pleased. It does exactly what I expected it to do. It leaves my hair silky yet my hair feels strong, but not “proteiny” or stringy. I have absolutely no complaints or qualms about this treatment. I feel that this protein treatment did a great job. I've been using this product for awhile. This is a product that I would replace, however I've come across drug-store brands that are similar in nature to this product. I may or may not replace this product but only because I am using up quite a few. This will more than likely be revisited in the future. Towards the end of this products use, I would mix it together with NTM Daily DC to save time. I would apply both of them together and dc for about 20+ mins or so. I loved this combination, in my mind moisture and strength.

I would apply this product and get under my heating cap for about 15-30mins. I wouldn't ever follow it with a moisture product. This product really didn't leave my hair lacking moisture at all.

Ingredients: Deionized Water, Propylene Glycol and Diazolidinyl Urea and Methylparaben and Propylparaben, Cetearyl Alcohol, Ceteareth-20, Stearyl Alcohol, Dicetyldimonium Chloride, Mineral Oil, Olive Oil, Lauryl Methyl Gluceth 10 Hydroxipropyl Dimonium Chloride, Trimethysilyamodimethicone, Hydrolyzed Silk, Fragrance, Methylchoroisithiazolinone and Methylisothiazolinone, Acetamide MEA, Hydrolyzed Hair Keratin, Panthenol, Sorbitol, Sodium Cocyl Collagen Amino Acid, Cocoyl Sarcosine, Wheat Germ Acid, Wheat Germ Oil, Linolenic Acid, Sulfur, Polysorbate 80, Oleth 10, Jojoba Oil, Tocopheryl Acetate, Hydrolyzed Glycosaminoglycans, Zinc Oxide, Titanium Oxide, Mica, Boron Nitride Powder

UP NEXT: PAUL MITCHELL Super Strong Treatment

No Posts In Awhile...Been Busy :(

I've moved to Alabama and I am still trying to get myself situated. Things have been happening so fast. I have so much stuff in storage including my usb cord for my camera. I have a few reviews that I want to post and lots of update pics. The skinny on my hhj thus far:

*Relaxed 6/16/10 with Silk Elements w/ Shea Relaxer-Regular. I really like the results. I may stick with this relaxer for awhile. I noticed that it did start tingling a little quicker than I'm used to but that could have been for many reasons. I had a three day old braid out in my hair when I was called in for an interview the next day so rushing I combed it out and did my relaxer. I was about 11wks post anyway so it was time. I could've just gotten away with a fresh wash and flat iron but oh well. I wont do that again, I i'll use proper pre-relaxer regimen.

* Length-hmmm, I am truthfully not sure. I have been very protective of my length since I've been down here. My brother keeps harassing me about straightening my hair and seeing the length. He is so anti-short hair that it is ridiculous so I'll let him believe what he wants to believe until I am ready to flat iron again which isn't often. Not to mention, I probably won't post as many length updates anyway. I want to be surprised also.

*Coloring-I have the itch again. I just can' get over it. I want to color my hair so bad!!! I saw a young lady the other day with beautiful tri-color highlights and she gave me the number to her stylists. I want them so bad. I will make an appt this month. I haven't colored for two reason, first I wanted to make sure I had a great length retaining regimen first and secondly, I didn't want to replace my top 5 fave half wigs because if color changes. It's so easy to blend my naturally black hair. Well I'm over it now. Life is too short. I'm getting highlights. I will definitely keep you all updated.

Oh and have you noticed. I am almost 5 months pj clean. Yes, I still have tons of products however, I know what I like and I am kind of going through the motions with these other products. I am using them because, 1-they are already bought and paid for so it saves me money and 2-because I like doing reviews. I'm at a cross road though. I really am sick of all the extra products. I don't have anyone to give them to so I'll wait until I go to Alabama and give them to my family there. I'll post my pj inventory this evening because after today, my life is going to be in zoom-zoom-zoom mode.I'm not relaxing until the last week of June. Dates and plans have changed, I now need to have all of my things in my 2 bdr town home apt ready to ship off by June 3rd, when I originally planned to move June 25th. So I'll have to donate so much stuff to the Goodwill, but I'm happy knowing it will bless another family in need. At least, lots of ppl will benefit from all of the nice things I can't afford to take.

Oh, rambling.

STAPLES:SET means no more to try and interested in.

SHAMPOO(SET)- Organic Root Stimulator Creamy Aloe Shampoo and CHI Infra Shampoo{$$$}
DEEP CONDITIONER(SET)- Neutrogena Triple Moisture Daily Deep Conditioner and/or Joico Moisture Recovery Treatment Balm {$$$}
PROTEIN TREATMENT- Motions CPR Conditioning Treatment, Organic Root Stimulator Hair Mayonnaise(medium protein), Joico KPAK Deep Penetrating Reconstructor{$$$}(heavy protein,pre/post-relaxer)
OILS- Home Health Castor Oil, Extra Virgin Coconut Oil, and Sweet Almond Oil
PREPOO/COWASH-Tresemme Remoisturize, Aussie Moist and Bed Head Self-Absorbed{$$$} (which ever is on sale at the time I need to restock)
LEAVE-INS: NONE

Okay so as you can see I still have quite a few protein dc's, cowash conditioners and oils to experiment with or give away so I can't really say that they're set yet. My goal by the end of this year is to post my unique to me, set regimen. Wow, I am not completely salon-brand hooked like I thought I was. Alot of the stuff I like can be found at a local drug store like CVS, Walgreens, etc and the local BSS, so that's great.

So What's Going On?

My life is headed in a completely different direction then I saw it years ago. I have some very real and very drastic changes going on. I have been rocked upside down by emotions recently. I am dealing with it a minute at a time, but life still goes on. I will be leaving Texas and going back to Alabama. I will miss Texas so much. I will miss the life I had here in Texas. While there are several things that stick out in my head , the hardest part is that I just found a great stylist, lol! Moving is so stressful.

I am still working out on occasion. I was all gung-ho and then I lost the fire but I see the difference in just the short time of consistency I was working out. I will get back to it.

My hair, humph, I am noticing it behaving weird. It seems so dry and tangled. I am still experimenting with products and have a cabinet full, but I am tired of it. I restocked my NTM daily dc. I can't wait to get back to my staple products. I will be posting my pj inventory earlier than the end of June. I am still hopping to be free of all extra products by the end of this year. As I get closer and closer to the move date, I know that packing up products will be the least of my concerns.

I can't wait to post another length update. I will probably post it the second week of June. I have 2 weddings to attend and I will be getting a fresh relaxer.

4 Reviews- HairVeda, Paul Mitchell, Elasta QP

HairVeda Whipped Cream-Ends Hydration 8oz
Apply to your hair & ends as needed for moisture. Use in small amounts for the most benefit. Works well with the baggy method. Use with CoCasta Oil to lock in moisture. Whipped Cream is a great body moisturizer too. Keep away from heat.
Ingredients: Water, Glycerin, Ricinus Communis Oil, Beeswax, Lauryl Laurate, Copernicia Cerifera Wax, Cetyreal Alcohol, Proysorbate 60, Steryl Alcohol, Sunflower Oil, Allantoin, Isopropyl Palmitate, Germall Plus, Fragrance
HairVeda Whipped Clouds (SheAloe Butter)
Apply Shea Aloe to your hair and body as needed for moisture. Use as a allover body moisturizer and skin softener. Use a small amount on hair. Rub into palms and smooth onto your hair shaft and ends for softness. Wonderful for kids. Perfect for extra dry, maturing and sensitive skin types. Non edible.
Ingredients: Butyrospermum Parkii Fruit, Aloe Barbadensis Leaf Juice, Vitamin E, Hydrolized Collagen, Fragrance
My Experience: First, I must say that I love these products. The scent is heavenly and could incite a sweet tooth. These products are exquisite. The whipped cream did, in fact keep my hair moisturized, but it was too heavy no matter how much I would use. If I used either of these products I would have to plan protective styling only. These two moisturizers, some people use them to seal, are only great for bunning and other protective styling. I eventually got to the point where I used both of these products as moisturizers for my skin. I like them better on my skin than my hair. Do not be shocked, the products clearly state that they can be used for the skin as well. These products will not become staples, but who knows. I could see myself revisiting the Whipped(Baggy Cream), it really does help to create beautiful, shiny braid outs and twist outs.
STAPLE STATUS: NO
Next Up: Wave Nouveau Moisturizing Finishing Lotion

Elasta QP H-Two Leave-In Moisture Sealing Conditioner 8oz
Elasta QP H-Two adds lightweight moisture to give incredible luster and body to hair. Silk protein strengthens hair fibers while botanical extracts protect hair from thermal styling tools. Sunscreen protects against UV rays that fade color. Smooths and conditions braids.
Directions: Shampoo with your favorite QP shampoo. Spray liberal amount of QP H-Two into hair. Comb blend for even coverage. DO NOT RINSE FROM HAIR. Continue styling as usual.
Ingredients: Chamomillia Recuita (Matricaria) Extract, Urtica Dioica (Nettle) Extract, Melissa Officinalis (Balm Mint) Extract, Leaf Oil, Tussilago Farfars (Coltsfoot) Flower Extract, Eulsetum Arvense Extract, Aesculus Hippocastanum (Horse Chestnut) Extract, Rosemarinus Officinalis (Rosemary) Leaf extract, Salvia Officinalis (Sage) Leaf Extract in Purified Water, Amodimethicone, Polyquaternium-11, Cetrimonium Chloride, Hydrolyzed Silk, Nonoxynol-10, Octoxynol-13, Benzophenone-4, Imidozolidinyl UREA, Methylparaben, Propylparaben, Citric Acid, Fragance.
My Experience:This leave in was excellent at first. I had great slip with this product and it helped me to detangle so well. Then as I got halfway through the bottle, my hair became unruly. This leave-in lost it's kick with my hair really quickly. I was in such a rush to get rid of this product. I am not sure why it happened the way it did.
STAPLE STATUS: NO
NEXT UP: Wave Nouveau Finishing Mist

TIGI Bed Head Moisture Maniac Moisturizing Conditioner 25.36oz/ $7.20(70% off store-closing sale)
Regain composure. Stay calm, cool and conditioned. TO USE: Work thoroughly through damp hair, rinse. For extra therapy, leave in 3-5 minutes, rinse.
Ingredients: Water, Cetyl Alcohol, Behentrimonium Methosulfate, Cetearyl Alcohol, Cetrimonium Chloride, Glycerin, Acetamide MEA, Cetrimonium Bromide, Stearyl Alcohol, Fragrance, DMDM Hydantoin, PPG-2 Myristyl Ether Proprionate, Pentaerythrityl Tetracaprylate/Tetracaprate, Methylparaben, Propylparaben, Tetrasodium EDTA, Silk Amino Acids, Orange 4.
My Experience: This conditioner is awful. I love the scent, the consistency is the same as Bed Head Self-Absorbed, but it is nowhere as good. As I typed the description I chuckled a little because it says “End your fight with snarls and tangles. I used this product as a cowash and a dry dc and either way I was cursed with snarls and tangles. I found no good way to use this product. All in all I am disappointed in this product. I truly expected more from this product given the great experience I had with the Bed Head Self-Absorbed Conditioner.
STAPLE STATUS: NO
UP NEXT: RUSK SENSORIES Nourish Kukui & Macadamia Nut Self-Heating Treatment

As far as my dc's now, I am currently using the last unknown, unexperimented moisture dc that I have. I am so happy because I am already stocked with staples, if this treatment is a no-go. I am currently using Alter Ego Nourishing Garlic Treatment.
I have also went through several mediocre dc's, most recently being Paul Mitchell Super-Charged Moisturizer. I don't really feel the need to do a review b/c I either threw the bottles away or I gave them away. I will post the usage on the pj inventories and if there is anything you want to know, just ask.

Length Check Post Snip-5/1

This is my length shot after hair was snipped. It is a little past my shoulders but I'm okay with that. I love the look and hubby needs to keep his hands out of my hair. I went to a new stylist and for now I think I am going to stick with her. She is a very sweet woman. She wasn't loud and gossiping about any one's business. She has a comfy little suite within a large building of beauty professionals. The location is perfect, less than 5 minutes from my home. I am very pleased. I found this stylist out of desperation. I was cruising the Internet one night and came across her type pad page and the rest is history. She didn't burn my scalp, she did a consultation before she started. I found that she was very helpful in giving me tips and suggestions. I ended up paying.....(drum roll) $100, a bit much but to me worth it. I've been wanting a beautiful bob with soft layers for awhile. I like her. We'll see what the future entails. So on with more pics:

I thoroughly enjoyed playing with all of my layers. I will post a length shot when my wrap loosens up a little bit more.

<img id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5456417436379579250" style="DISPLAY: block; Redken's exclusive Interbond Conditioning System delivers moisturizing apricot oil that combines with glucosamine and glycerin to form a unique Micro-Moisture Complex. This product was torture.I found this product to be be quite useless and very irritating since my first use. I kept expecting it to get better. Well, it didn't I don't have much to say about this product. I really didn't like it. This did absolutely nothing for my hair. My cowash conditioner was more moisturizing than this product. This reminds me of the Redken Smooth Down Butter Treat, I went crazy trying to get hold of the stuff then when I finally got it, I found it to be quite mediocre and over-hyped. So far, this fits my idea of Redken, usually over-hyped. I don't think I'll be trying anything else from Redken. I have tried three of their lines and none of them make me or my hair happy, not to mention they are a little pricey to end up disappointed. It provides no slip and no moisturizing qualities. There was no noticeable difference whether using heat or not. Mega Vitamins A,B,C,D and E energize lazy, ho-hum hair. Pump up the body and shine. Work out the tangles and dry ends. Feed out-of-shape or chemically treated hair what it needs. (courtesy of product container)

Directions:
Work thoroughly through damp hair and rinse. Leave in 3-5 minutes for extra nutritional benefits.

My Experience:
First off, I just want to say I love the scents of the Bed Head products that I have. Since the first use of this product I could tell that there was something in store. My first wash with this product was a cowash and it really seemed to get my hair clean. My strands felt sleek and smooth. My next few uses for this product were as a prepoo for my hair and my daughter's hair. It spreads so well. This is a pretty decent cowash, but I really, really preferred this product as a prepoo.

I had a few issues with tangles after trying the invigorating gel and this conditioner really helped to calm my tangles down. I can't say that my hair felt like butter every use. My hair felt amazing when I would leave this product on for 1-2 hours while doing chores. It makes my wash go so smoothly. I applied my dc after shampooing my hair and my hair felt better with this conditioner than the dc that I am currently using.

I would recommend this product, but only if you plan to leave it in longer than 3-5 minutes. I can't vouch for nutritional value, but I can say my hair loved this product. I will even say that I would purchase this over Aussie Moist depending on funds. I purchased this at a ridiculously low sale so I'd need to compare prices. I already know that with Aussie you get about 20-30oz for $3-4, but even on sale I only got 8.oz for $4. I like it, but it may not be feasible within my budget. Oh, and it has a pump on the bottle, even the smaller sizes. I prefer bottles with pumps.

SIDE NOTE: I am so anxious to try and already think that I'll love the Moisture Maniac that I plan to do a review on the 8.5oz bottle that I have. I plan to keep the larger size for later on down the line when I'm finished experimenting.

STAPLE STATUS: Yes, though I probably won't repurchase unless I want to splurge or quite a sale

Ingredients:Aqua, Cetearyl Alcohol, Behentrimonium Methosulfate, Glyceryl Sterate, PEG-100 Stearate, Trimethylsiloxyamodimethicone, Octoxynol-40, Isolaureth-6, Cetyl Alcohol, Stearalkonium Chloride, Dicetyldimonium Chloride, Stearyl Alcohol, Fragrance, Cetrimonium Chloride, Panthenol, Hydroxyethylcellulose, Cyclomethicone, Dimethiconol, Imidazolidinyl Urea, Methylparaben, Propylparaben, Disodium EDTA, Citric Acid, Aloe Barbadensis Leaf Juice, Retinyl Palmitate, Magnesium Ascorbyl Phosphate, Cholecalciferol, Tocopheryl Acetate, CI 16035 (RED 40), CI 19140 (Yellow 5).

DISCLAIMER- I am in no way affiliated with any of the aforementioned products. It was amusing. I'm still singing "Almost there, I'm almost theeeeerrrree". I did notice one particular scene that I didn't like, but as far as the racism talk it was a nice movie and no more racist than say....Pocahontas, Mulan, Cinderella, etc. I was skeptical in letting my daughter see it because when it first came out she was frightened by the shadow man at the movies with her class. Now as someone who has lived on the gulf coast for quite a few years in Mobile, Al, which I hardly ever tell ppl, voodoo is nothing that I am not familiar with. I do not believe in such evil, but you hear about it quite a bit in the South. I would've been okay if the movie wasn't so dark at times and showed the voodoo scenes so explicitly. I think the movie could've implied voodoo, but shouldn't have thrown it all up in the kids face, for example the blood in the necklace or the little demon shadows. Was this a Halloween movie?
Now I will say I loved the underlying message with the voodoo in the songs and the sayings, throughout the story of the it did show the down side of scheming and greed. It keeps saying and showing in different scenarios and songs about the greed and vanity "You get what you want and lose what you have". I enjoyed that, it is true, we must be grateful for what we have. Nothing worth having comes easy. If it's too good to be true it normally is. And always, always read between the lines. There is no truth in evil. Greed and vanity are blinding. I got that out of this movie, but would children?
Now with that being said the story line within the movie was entertaining. This movie was not stereotypical to me because if you've lived in the South and you read and know about the history, this movie was very accurate for the period of time it was recreating. There is no nice way to recreate the history of the South, especially Louisiana, but I think they did a pretty good job, people it wasn't pretty then. Truth be told going there even now is just as much as a culture shock for me as it was 10yrs ago.
Anyway, I like Princess & the Frog, but I'm not sure that I want to purchase it. I need to speak with my big girl about it and see if she wants me to buy it, it's up to her. I wanna know what she truly thinks about it. Is this an epic tale like The Lion King, I think not. I believe that alot of ppl were disappointed b/c maybe we made more of a big deal about this movie than we should have. Of course it is the first black princess, but as a princess period, whether it was a black, white, indian, asian, latina or other race of princess the movie would still be entertaining for me, yet mediocre.

Weeks 4 & 5: Flexi Rod and Straight

Week 4 a failed flexi rod set. I'll post my failed flexi rod set and my straight look for one day was on my anniversary evening only.

I am no longer using HairVeda Whipped Clouds to moisturize or seal my hair because no matter how little or how I use it, it's too heavy. I now use Hair Veda Whipped (Baggy) Cream, I love it. This unlike any of my other moisturizers leave my hair moisturized even if I am wearing a braid out or a bun. My ends at no point were crispy, nor did I need to m&s daily. This is great. I don't even want to try the rest, but we'll see. The only problem with this product line is availability. I would have to order two at a time because I hear stories about long waits and the store being closed due to high volume of orders, some wake up at all hours of the night just to get HV products. I could definitely see a product like this being my one and only moisturizer. To me, it beats both NTM Silk Touch and dare I say it, Elasta QP Mango Butter. We'll see, 2 more weeks before and official review.

It Was Our Anniversary....

So here's what I wore:

I tried with the makeup, don't laugh I'm getting better.

We went to a little jazz club. It was really nice. I don't go to teeny-bopper clubs, I don't go out at all, but the hubby and I wanted to do something different. I'm going to rewind it back a little bit, give you a little history. My hubby and I have been together for 8 yrs total, 2 years married. This week has been rough for us and now in retrospect, the devil knew this. At the beginning of the week we were thinking this would be the last anniversary that we would celebrate. We joked about it, but we were kind of serious. We were getting on each others' nerves like crazy. I didn't want to go anywhere with him just to sit and be uncomfortable, turns out his feelings were mutual. By Friday, we got it together. We talked a little. We ended up having a great time.

We dropped kids off at baby sitter's house. We then went to go see Alice and Wonderland, well no surprise here. It was sold out from 6:45p until 12am showing. So we'll catch it later on down the line. We went home and started the "beautification process" and headed around the town. This part we free-lanced b/c we knew we weren't hungry but we wanted to enjoy the night life here in Fort Worth. We headed down town, nothing interesting there. Hubby remembered a club that he sees packed all the time while riding through Dallas. I hate Dallas with a passion, but anyway, went to Brooklyn Jazz club(http://www.brooklynjazzcafe.com/_) and it was amazing. There was a local band playing. It was laid back and relaxed. People were enjoying each other it was great. Music wasn't too loud. No disrespect anywhere. Unusual for me, I've only been out twice since I turned 21 and I'm 24 now and each club was wild and someone would always end up fighting. Well not here, this was grown and sexy all the way. I got a fruity little something, don't know the name, hubby ordered the lightest beverage they had and he had his usual Remy 1738. (By the way, I purchased him some Remy for his b-day and I had no idea it was this expensive. This is the only thing he ever drinks, and I've never bought it before. He keeps at least one bottle in the house at all times, but whoooot $54, he's lucky I has $60 on me at the time. Spansive!!!! )We conversed and for once, in a long, long time, I felt like a woman, a sexy woman being courted. I didn't feel like a "mother" or a "wife", I was being courted and I loved every minute of it. My hubby and I haven't been on a date since my daughter was born in 2003. Now don't misunderstand, I love being a mother and a wife and all that they entail, but those of you who've been here know exactly what I'm talking about.

We've been talking about how much fun we've had since Saturday. I thoroughly enjoyed my husband and it feels good knowing that he did as well. It was just the two of us and I will cherish this moment until the next time. I will definitely plan the next a little better.

Product Review: Aussie Hair Insurance Leave In Spray

Aussie Hair Insurance Leave In Conditioner $3.99 /8 oz

Purchased: Walgreens

Dates of Usage: 1/1/2010- 3/3/2010

Description: Liquid leave-in/spray

Usage: Leave-in spray, to moisten hair before a wet set or other air dried texture style, prior to cornrowing hair

Product Claims:

A true work-a-holic, this leave-in conditioner, accented with Australian Silk Protein, puts it inovertime to keep hair strong.

Directions: Spray into clean, damp hair. Do that thing that you do to your 'do, but don't rinse!

My Experience:

When I first started my hhj I had a brief brush with this product and I liked it. I even recommended it to a few others, but now it seems to do nothing for my hair. I apologize, this is the reason I now use a product for several uses before giving a yes or no. When I say nothing I mean nothing. Sure it helps to moisten the hair but only temporarily. I have to spray so much just for my hair to even feel damp. I would spray this on my hair and it wouldn't help with detangling at all. It did nothing for my children's natural hair either. I couldn't wait to get rid of this spray. Glad I tried it, especially happy I used it up.

The only things I like about this product are the scent and the purple spray bottle. I love purple.

STAPLE STATUS: ABSOLUTELY NO!!!!

Ingredients:Water, Amodimethicone, Cetrimonium Chloride, Trieceth-12, Polyquaternium-11, PEG-40 Hydrogenated Castor Oil, PPG-2 Methyl Ether, DMDM Hydantoin, Fragrance, Disodiu EDTA, Polysorbate 80, Aminomethyl Propanol, Citric Acid, Panax Ginseng Root Extract, Silk Extract, Aloe Barbadensis Leaf Juice

DISCLAIMER- I am in no way affiliated with any of the aforementioned products. Do not rinse.

My Experience:
Initially after application of this product it seemed to make my hair smooth and soft. It was instrumental in helping me air dry. It didn't do anything special for me while stretching. I didn't notice my NG any softer or more manageable. After textured styles my hair would feel really dry, this is a big issue of mine. In Texas, the heat is scorching and I need a moisturizer that can at least hold up in the winter. For bunning, my ends stayed moisturized, but if my hair was out this product is too heavy and when I would use it by mid-day my hair would be dry again.I did notice that it seemed quite heavy on my hair before my hair started to thicken up. This is not necessarily a cream leave in that I would recommend for 'fine-haired' people.

The scent is nothing over the top or overwhelming. Very light and doesn't linger. It is a mint green type of color.

I really don't have any complaints, is it the best moisturizer I've tried?, no but it' okay. My only problem is availability. If I gave up all of my moisturizers that I want to try and say this is it, would I have to wonder about it being discontinued as so many of my other Dominican products have been. Product security is also an issue for me. It's an alright product. It kept me satisfied this long, I won't make it a staple, but who knows I may revisit it later on in my journey. My hair actually felt moisturized and soft. It made my scalp itchy and flaky. I found that this conditioner was too hard for me to rinse from my scalp. My goal when applying a dc is to cover my NG, but not my scalp. When it gets on my scalp it takes forever to rinse.

Plain and simple, my hair LOVES this dc, but my scalp hates it.

This product is only available at Sally Beauty Supply Stores. Once it dried I figured out which half-wig I was going to wear and determined how much leave-out hair I needed. I chose Motown Tress LG-90 (1B, same color as my hair). For this wig due to it's loose S-curl type of waves, I used anywhere from 3-7 curl formers to help with the blending.

I put all the hair that wasn't left out into one or two french braids. I just tucked the ends up into itself, if that makes sense. I would m&s nightly.

Here is another LG-90 post:
http://www.relaxedlongway2grow.com/2009/06/half-wig-motown-tress-lg-90.html

How-to: I would put in a few cf's every night, knowing how to pin curl would eliminate this nightly process. I would blend the curls and put the wig on. I would put in my two "anchor" bobby pins then use a few hair pins in my leave out hair to keep my curls attached/blended with the curls of the wig.

Prep pics:

In Living Color Marathon.... Well, now that I have you thinking about it, let me tell you what I did. I weighed the pros and cons of just going to have a 'look see' and ended up purchasing a few things. Unlike other pj buys, this spurge made me happy. My coworker was able to get a almost a liter of Nexxus shampoo for only $4 so you know I had to go check it out. So here's what I was lucky enough to scoop up.

Nexxus Sublime Volume Conditioner- 13.5 oz $4.80
Rusk Sensories Calm Conditioner- 13.5 oz $3.29
Loreal Ever Pure UV Protect Leave In Spray- 8.5 oz $2.25
Paul Mitchell Hair Repair Treatment 16.9 oz $8.04
Paul Mitchell Color Protect Lock In Spray 16.9 oz $5.25
Matrix Color Smart Luminating System Protective Conditioner x2 51oz $8.04(2)
Paul Mitchell The Rinse 10.14 oz $3.30
Rusk Sensories Smoother Shampoo 13oz $2.70
Samy Fat Hair Thickening Conditioner x2 10 oz $2.40(2)
Rusk Sensories Calm Guarana & Ginger Reconstructor 5.1 oz $3.00
Neutrogena Triple Moisture Silk Touch Leave In 6oz $1.80 (Staple)
Rusk Sensories Nourish Kukui & Macadamia Nut Self-Heating Treatment 4.2oz $3.30
Paul Mitchell Strength Super Strong Treatment 6.8 oz $5.40
bain de terre Peppermint Patty Invigorating Scalp Treatment x3- 4.2 oz $2.97(3)-Really interesting. It is a gel like conditioner that has a brush attached to the cap that gently(or so I hope) exfoliates your scalp and then you follow it with a shampoo. I like the idea of this since I am back to dry dcing every other wash. So we'll see.
***BEDHEAD Moisture Maniac Conditioner 25.36oz $7.29 USED UP
***Paul Mitchell Daily Instant Moisture 6.8oz $4.50-USED UP
***Redken Clear Moisture Water Rush x2 8.5 oz $4.50(2)- GOT RID OF
***BEDHEAD Self-Absorbed Conditioner 8.5 oz $4.20-USED UP
***BEDHEAD Moisture Maniac Conditioner 8.5oz $4.20-USED UP
***Paul Mitchell Moisture Super-Charged Moisturizer x2 6.8oz $4.50(2) USED UP
Lots of body sprays, hand soaps and massage oils

Now I must admit this was partially a pj move, but why should I pass on this opportunity. Where else could I have gotten deals like these. So I'll be removing my pj rehab ticker, but I walk away from pj rehab with my head held high. I was able to refrain from purchases for a total of 7.5 months. I had just ran out of conditioner and oil to prepoo with so this was right on time. I am also alternating between a shampoo wash and a conditioner wash each week, so again, this is right on time.

Style of the Week: Bantu Knots 2 OF 16

WEEK 2 Bantu Knots

Bantu knots are knots that you make by sectioning your hair and twisting that section around until it coils up similar to a snake coil right before it strikes. You secure it with a ponytail holder, your own hair, a hair/bobby pin or even a rubber band.

With this style I made more of them so the curls were alot tighter than usual. If you want looser waves try fewer knots.

Here is another post that I've done with looser Bantu knots:
http://www.relaxedlongway2grow.com/2008/10/technique-bantu-knots.html

This Wash:
Dry DC- SE Mega Cholesterol Conditioning Treatment 2+ hrs with shower cap- body heat only (exercise and housework)
Leave-Ins- Aussie Hair Insurance, Lady Fior Olive Oil Leave In, Tresemme 24 hr Body Mousse
I air dried with several knots. For nightly upkeep, I would apply oil and moisturizer to my hands, rub them together and gently rub through Bantu knots. I do not manipulate the waves too much. I pinned the sides up and then put on my bonnet. Pinning the sides up towards the crown keeps it from getting smashed or you could pin curls or recoil it nightly, it's up to you.

This is not one of my favorite styles but for the sake of air drying, low manipulation styles, I do it every once in a while. I haven't perfected it, but the braid out and twist out provide the same results and I have truly perfected those.

UP NEXT: HALF-WIG

Style of the Week: Tucked Twist- Up 1 OF 16

This Wash:
Prepoo- V05 Mix
Shampoo- ORS Creamy Aloe Shampoo left on for 1-3 min(I always do this post-relaxer)
CHI Infra Shampoo- one lather
DC- CHI Infra Treatment -15 mins with heat/steam
Leave-Ins- Aussie Hair Insurance, Lady Fior Olive Oil Leave In, CHI Silk Infusion.
I airdried and smoothed my hair throughout the process with a boar bristle brush and my hands while it dried.

My hair feels so full and it seems to have strength and elasticity combined. Detangling has become so simple.

This week's style is a twist-up with the ends tucked and clipped under. It is very simple.
How-to: I basically just pull my hair back like I'm about to put it into ponytail. From here I gently twist it upwards and then fold the ends downward. Depending on how large, loose or taut that I want it I pin it directly through and underneath the twist-up. I will use a cute clip or a simple clip, it doesn't really show anyway. I will sometimes where it with a headband but when I part the front I wear it without a headband.

I m+s, then I would put my scarf on at bed time. In the morning, I would just smooth and redo if necessary and I was good to go.

This style keeps my ends protected and it isn't just the usual bun. I like to do low manipulation styles. I kept it really low manipulation this week, though. I was too busy to be creative. This was quick and easy for me.

Next Week: Bantu Knots

Updates: I'm Still Alive and Kicking

Updates:
**Did some damage over at PZI JEANS. I bought 8 pairs, I think. I can't wait to post pics. You should've seen the hubby everytime I showed him a pair he was to busy looking at the “cheeks” of the models inside of the jeans instead of the particular jean styles. Hubby gave me the green light I logged on and lost my mind. I have been wanting to try these jeans forever so you know I'll keep everyone out there in the blogosphere updated.

**Finally purchased the flat boots and a FEW extras from Ami Clubwear. I have been wanting flat boots for about 2 years and I finally got them. I purchased a pair of knee high boots, some peep toe booties and some really cute ankle strap heels. I also got some cute 'underthings' that I'm sure the hubby will enjoy.

**I relaxed my hair about 2 weeks ago with CHI Deep Brilliance Relaxer in Normal. I love it. My hair 2 weeks later is still so shiny and easy to manage. For some reason my hair feels so much fuller and stronger. I couldn't tell if it was the relaxer process, my progress and/or the use of CHI Infra Treatment. Well, whatever it is I am loving how full it feels and looks.

The CHI Deep Brilliance relaxer system is specifically designed for our hair type and is said to allow those who use this relaxer to also color their hair at some point within the same process.
The balance neutralizing poo has color-alert, but it wasn't as thick as my ORS Creamy Aloe so I added it to the process. I burned my scalp, but it's been such a long time since I self-relaxed that I probably should've praticed before I applied the relaxer. All in all, I am happy with the results, but I think I will have a stylist apply it next time. All products I use to relax: CHI Deep Brilliance Scalp Protective Cream, CHI Deep Brilliance Relaxer in Normal, CHI Deep Brilliance Balance Neutralizing Shampoo, ORS Creamy Aloe Shampoo, DUO Tex Protein Conditioner(mid-process protein) and SE Cholesterol Conditioner. LeaveIns: AGTK, Chi Silk Infusion and FX Flat Iron Spray which I absolutely love. It doesn't make my hair crispy at all. The best heat-protectant that I've tried and I have tried many.

**I have been working out on schedule. I am feeling results and losing inches. My weight is still the same and that's fine for me because I know that building muscle will increase weight. The big difference is in the way my clothes fit.

**I am still huge into P-styling so you probably won't see a length check until my next relaxer or my wedding anniversary. I will add all of my weekly styles since my styles are all planned thoroughout my 16-week stretch. It helps me stay consistent. It also helps me so I don't keep repeating the same styles over and over again.

Transitioning Into A Healthy Lifestyle

Well, this is actually nothing new for me. Since about August 09 I have been eating differently. I have consumed a lot more fruit and vegetables. I watch my portion sizes. With that being said, I am not one for deprivation. It makes no sense to me. Self control issues are one thing, but to starve yourself with ridiculous diets one after another is foolish. You cheat your body out of the necessary calories and nutrition that it needs just for normal function, just to maintain a level of homeostasis and multiple chemical/cellular reactions throughout the day. I hate diets because again, they are the quick and easy way out. It's like a sure way of failing. Dieting is a set-up. It's a multi-billion dollar conspiracy!!!! Why, because it's a roller coaster. They're very difficult to maintain and if you do lose weight your more than likely, I mean, almost guaranteed to gain it right back because while your dieting your not being shown how to eat the right things. Your normally isolating certain things from your diet. People, think about the vampire movies and maybe this is a horrible analogy, but there is always a good guy who wants to do right and has some type of synthetic solution to replace the desire for blood. I say that, to say that in the movies the hunger always wins right? Corny, I know, but nonetheless true. The hunger will always win because it's as natural as breathing. You have to eat, no way around it. So go on all these crazy diets if you want, but when your ready to really, really make a difference in your weight and health you'll realize that it is a complete lifestyle change. You'll see when you cross that bridge.

This is gets very overwhelming for me sometimes, too. I'm just a normal “Jane Doe”. I'm a twenty-five year old married mother of two, a five-year old and a two-year old. My hubby is always on over the road. I work full-time and still have to find energy and time in between cooking, cleaning, homework, bath time, reading time, etc to exercise. I had an emergency c-section that tore me apart. My stomach muscles even after two years just aren't the same and I struggle with my core all the time. I say start of with one thing at a time. For instance, start with smaller portion sizes for a few weeks. Then move on to incorporating more veggies and fruits. After a few weeks of that, add in the exercise but do not overwhelm yourself or you'll end up quitting. Transition slowly and then gain momentum and add on according to your desires.

My Healthy Lifestyle Regimen

As I said in the beginning I have been eating healthier and experimenting with green smoothies for a few months now.

I exercise about 3-4 times a week. I use a DVD schedule that I made (13+ DVDs and several different workouts to mix it up) along with an elliptical machine. I motivate myself and include my children. I'm beginning to see my hubby come around and have an interest in getting his 360+ lbs in check.

Do not forget Cardio exercise, You need to condition your heart and cardio is what is going to burn the most calories and shed the fat.

I drink at least 64oz daily. The amount of water you drink is widely debatable so I just stick with two mandatory jugs. I have a 32oz water bottle that I fill up twice daily and I can't drink any other type of beverage until I've had all of the water throughout the day. This is extremely difficult for me so I reward myself. Once I get down to the 16oz mark I allow myself to mix one of the flavor packs to it. It's my own little incentive.

I take multivitamins.

I don't eat breakfast. It messes with my stomach. I will usually have a mid-morning snack (granola bar, yogurt parfait, etc.) I have a mid-afternoon snack also(trail mix, usually home made, granola bar, sometimes I will finish up my lunch or some other light snack)

I try to have a salad with every meal before I dig into the rest of my food. I remember the size of my stomach and I never force myself to eat just because there's food still on my plate. If I have food leftover that I never touched I'll take it for lunch, no need to waste it. If you recognize when your full it will become easier for you to control your portion sizes while fixing your plate.

I eat slowly unless I'm starving :) A lot of times when I eat fast (as in inhaling food), I end up eating a heck of a lot more food. I look down and I've eaten a whole bag of something or I'm sitting here feeling full and miserable because I didn't stop and rushed.

My cheat day is Saturday. When I first created my cheat day I thought I would go crazy and cancel out all of my hard work during the week on this one day, but the more I got into my lifestyle change I realized how important the outcome was for me and even though it is a cheat day I am still programmed to have self-control.

I do not count calories. I do, however, look at serving sizes and sodium intake. I get dehydrated very easily and it causes other issues with me that aren't so pleasant so I watch my sodium and water intake.

Last but not least, I am part of a fitness challenge at my place of employment that officially starts February 4th , 2010. I got measured and I even wanted to show you semi-starter pics but there isn't a good enough reason to convince hubby that I need to be on here showing the goods, lol! Maybe I'll take a couple of pics throughout this journey. Anyway the participants are all measured and pinched. I had no idea that I had a lot of fat until I walked out of that place. She was pinching my skin, it was funny and a teeny, tiny bit embarrassing. The challenge ends in August/September 2010. It is about losing body fat percentage, most inches lost, most weight lost, etc. There are several categories and a winner or two for each category. We were all weighed and measured and will have another weight assessment in March.

So these are my measurements:
Weight:167
Height: 5'5''
Goal Weight: 155( I like my curves. I'm here to tone. I enjoy my thickness, but I was happy at this weight)
Biceps: 12”
Bust: 37”
Waist: 32” (I really would like to get back to 27-29”)
Hips: 44”
Thighs: 25”

Trail Mix-very simple
3 cups almonds- non-salted
1 cup or less of everything else
